The Village

Gite pressoir

In between Nantes and Grandlieu Lake, Pont St Martin is proud of being a village between the city and the countryside.

Pont St Martin offers all the adventages of the metropolis but also presents an autentic country character, which confers a very nice and good way of life highly appreciated by its 5,000 inhabitants.

The Ognon river which crosses the village, really contributes to its charm and flows in the "Grandlieu Lake".

The bridge is the work of Saint Martin de Vertou, the Evangelist of the region, and it would have been built in the sixth century, in the place of an old ford.

Plenty of paths to allow you ti discover by hiking or biking, the diversity of the landscape, and also the architectural patrimony with several castles and nice private houses...

… unless the "Dames de Pierre" tell you about their story associated to the legend of "La cité d'Herbauges"…

The story of Pont Saint Martin is closely related to the vine work, which has always been its main agricultural activity: in 1946, the village had about 200 press-houses!...

Thus, "Nantes' vine touristic tour" is passing throught our village where several viticulturists or vine growers will be pleased to make you taste their famous Muscadet called « Côtes de Grandlieu »
